Our education programme
HEART UK has partnered with the NHS Accelerated Access Collaborative (AAC) and the Health Innovation Network (HIN) to provide a comprehensive and varied education programme for healthcare professionals.
What is Tackling Cholesterol Together?
Tackling Cholesterol Together is the national professional education programme supporting the NHS England and NHS Improvement (NHSEI) 3-year lipids workstream. A wider campaign, Cholesterol Now, will support the NHS Long Term Plan and the Cardiovascular Disease Prevention Programme.
We've ensured a broad range of learning tools are available to suit different learner's needs. These will be launched online regularly throughout the year.
What materials will be available?
Through videos, podcasts, webinars, expert clinics, and online modules, clinical experts and national leaders will be sharing knowledge on the AAC NICE endorsed lipid management pathways, statin intolerance, Familial Hypercholesterolaemia, referral for genetic testing, PCSK9i's, novel therapies, diet and lifestyle, behavioural change, adherence, hesitancy and patient-centred conversations.
Who is it for?
The education programme supports all healthcare professionals, especially across Primary Care, to take control of cholesterol management, boost uptake of high-intensity statins, ezetimibe and PCSK9i's, and systematically change lipid management in line with updated NICE endorsed pathways, including novel new NICE recommended therapies.
All healthcare professionals are welcome to engage in our programme - Secondary Care specialist lipid/FH nurses and consultants will equally benefit from our materials, particularly content regarding Familial Hypercholesterolaemia and novel therapies on the horizon.
