They are not saintly but these devilish-tasty treats are an improvement on traditional versions and contain that important oat beta glucan for cholesterol lowering.
100g olive spread (Benecol)
3 tbsps Agave Syrup/Nectar
50g dried apricots
1 tbsp flax seeds
1 tbsp sunflower seeds
Preheat the oven to Gas Mark 5/190c/170c Fan. Line a 18cm square tin with baking parchment.
Finely chop the dates and then place in saucepan over a medium heat with the agave syrup and olive spread, until the spread has melted and the dates well blended in.
Add the rest of the ingredients to the saucepan and stir well until thoroughly mixed.
Pour the mixture into the tin and place in the oven for 15 minutes or until golden brown. Once completely cooled, cut into 12 slices.
