Early Career Cardiovascular Disease Prevention (ECCDP) Network

HEART UK is delighted to announce the formation of the Early Career Cardiovascular Disease Prevention (ECCDP) Network, designed to bring together junior and early-career healthcare providers and researchers. This network will serve as a vibrant community for early career professionals to collaborate, share their experiences, and exchange expertise.

Members will benefit from training and educational opportunities, as well as access to travel and educational grants through an application process. 

Additionally, the network will partner with peer organisations to foster the exchange of ideas in the field of atherosclerosis and cardiovascular disease prevention.

Our Mission:

1. Unite early career healthcare professionals who are dedicated to managing patients at risk of cardiovascular disease.

2. Facilitate discussions on the latest advancements in preventative cardiology and lipidology.

3. Address challenges and opportunities related to career growth and progression.

4. Promote the sharing of experiences and best practices among peers.

5. Enhance the presence of early career researchers and clinicians on the HEART UK platform, as well as at regional and international conferences.

6. Provide access to travel and educational grants for early career members.

Who Can Join?

We welcome individuals who identify as:

1. Undergraduate or postgraduate students who are involved in lipidology and atherosclerosis research.

2. Healthcare professionals in training-grade posts up to specialist registrar level.

3. Consultants within the first three years of their careers.

4. Researchers in postdoctoral or lecturer positions with less than five years of experience.

5. Pharmacists, Lipid/cardiovascular specialist nurses or dietician in the initial five years of their career.

Please note: All individuals need to be residents of the UK.

Special Interest Groups:

The ECCDP Network will include various special interest groups, such as:

1. Doctors in training & early career consultants

2. Pharmacists

3. Nurses.

4. Dieticians.

5. Basic science researchers.

6. Clinical researchers.

Upcoming Initiatives:

1. Connect with experienced professionals for guidance and support.

2. Engage in sessions on grant writing, research methodologies, and career development skills.

3. Join a platform for continuous engagement, resource sharing, and networking.

4. Participate in collaborative research projects and publications within the network.

5. Recognise outstanding contributions and achievements in atherosclerosis research and cardiovascular disease prevention.

6. If  you submit an abstract at the HEART UK annual conference and your abstract is selected you will be asked to present it and there will be an opportunity to attend an informal session, outside the main programme with relevant partners from this network

7. Stay informed with updates on activities, achievements, and upcoming events.
