Feb 15, 2008

On 23rd January 2008, MPs met England bowler Monty Panesar, who was at the House of Commons to raise awareness of heart health and the importance of early detection of cardio vascular disease (CVD).  The event was organised by Lloydspharmacy and was attended by more than 100 MPs and Lords

The MPs heard how Lloydspharmacy - who has been offering free diabetes testing for almost five years - is making real in-roads in the detection of CVD through its new Cholesterol and Heart Check, which is endorsed by national charity H.E.A.R.T UK.

Cathy Ratcliffe, HEART UK′s Operations and Communications Manager, said of the initiative: “H.E.A.R.T UK welcomes Lloydspharmacy′s Cholesterol and Heart check, which provides greater access to cholesterol testing as part of high quality heart risk assessment. Helping people to better understand their own heart health allows preventative measures to be taken to avoid the trauma of unnecessary and untimely illness and death .”

Cathy and her colleague,Fundraising Manager Carole Gryglaszewska, presented a pair of H.E.A.R.T UK red laces to Monty Panesar at the House of Commons,
