FCS is a rare autosomal recessive disorder, characterised by severely raised fasting triglycerides.

Consensus on dietary recommendations

Dietary management is the mainstay of treatment and involves a very restricted fat intake to maintain triglyceride concentrations below 10 mmol/L (885 mg/dL).

Based on the current practice of dietitians working with FCS, a consensus has been published to provide clear dietary recommendations for managing FCS.
