H·E·A·R·T UK is proud to announce its new Teamredlaces Walk at Wellington Country Park, Nr Reading on Sunday 28th September 2008!

The first Teamredlaces Berkshire walk will take place on Sunday 28th September 2008 at Wellington Country Park. The sponsored walk is open to everyone and dogs are very welcome (on leads). The aim of this walk is to raise awareness of the dangers of high cholesterol and cardiovascular disease whilst promoting exercise as a means of reducing risk and encouraging a healthy lifestyle. It is hoped that the sponsored walk will generate vital funds for H·E·A·R·T UK thus allowing the charity to continue providing support, information and knowledge to patients and their families.

The money raised from the walk will help us:

• Raise awareness of the dangers of high cholesterol and cardiovascular disease amongst the general population and specific ‘at risk groups’
• Ensure that our helpline is staffed everyday of the week by trained nurses and dieticians
• Fund new ‘Family Support Centres’ around the UK over the next three years
• Successfully campaign and lobby to provide better patient services
• Fund research into inherited high cholesterol and cardiovascular disease

To demonstrate our commitment to raising awareness and identifying those who may be at risk, we are pleased to offer a free cardiovascular risk assessment, including a cholesterol test, to all event participants over 25 years old. Testing will take place from 10am till 3pm at the event.

Registration will open at 9.30am and participants can start the walk anytime between 11.30am – 12.30pm. Entry fees are £7.50 for adults and £2.50 for children (under 18). Each participant will receive a Teamredlaces T-shirt, pair of redlaces, fundraising pack and certificate. The entry fee also gives you admission to Wellington Country Park so you can spend the whole day in the Park for free! There is a large picnic area so don’t forget that all important picnic! A café onsite will also be serving refreshments throughout the day.
