This information leaflet is aimed at GPs. The insert was circulated in the October 2009 edition of the Royal College of General Practitioners’ journal, and was designed to help GPs to recognise the multiple risk factors associated with cardiovascular disease (CVD). The timing of the insert coincides with the roll-out of NHS Health Checks, the new co-ordinated vascular disease control programme aimed at people aged between 40 and 74. These checks will help to identify people with and at risk of CVD, and ensure that they are receiving the appropriate treatment and lifestyle advice to reduce their risk.
